Mom has officially decided to participate in Camp WriMo for July! She wanted to make a formal announcement to everyone, but I decided to do it instead. (She is a bit slow.)
As mom is busy writing for Camp (this is her fifth one!), you can bet I will be there to motivate her and beg her for carrots and treats every time she reaches her next goal. Maybe I will make sure she works harder by asking for more food more often than just at her end goal. It might motivate her. Even her Lunatics writing group knows where all the food of hers is going – to me!
As mom is getting ready for vacation,
– and leaving me behind by the way which is not very nice, but the over 20+ hour drive in a car does not seem fun either so I guess it is okay…kind of – and I am trying not to have any hard feelings about it, I am spending all my time preparing a plan on how to motivate her during the whole of July! I will tell you all about it as July hits and continues!
Her camp profile has been decked out with what her fellow writing group members think of her (some of them anyway!) though she also has a regular profile on NaNoWriMo.org!
What is NaNoWriMo?
Some may wonder what Camp WriMo is or what NaNoWriMo is. They are very similar.
From the NaNoWriMo “About” Page:
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing.
On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.
Their Camp WriMo (Writing Month) happens twice in the summer during April and July. Instead of the required 50,000 words in 30 days, you have the option to choose how many words you would like. You can set your goal to whatever you want! There are also cabins which form ‘chat spaces’ so you can chat with others, motivate each other, and be supportive. You can also work on revision, other types of writing, and be a ‘rebel’ in any way you would like!
Mom writes with a writing group in cabin wars, so while they support her, I will join in the best I can!
I Willow, hereby declare I will not make additional messes for Ali to clean up except when absolutely necessary for the whole of July 2016.
While mom was working hard on her writing, I was secretly reading and watching, but shh…
